I think, while eating my breakfast — do I disrupt the sanctity of this bowl?
I prefer when the fruit, yogurt, oats, and nuts are all mixed together. It tastes better. The ingredients are in more communion with each other. Though visually an eyesore. Pure mush. So, when the bowl is fresh and untouched, with each ingredient piled in its own sector, I sever small regimented bites with my spoon. Making sure each group remains intact. Visually, remaining a pleasure. A true delight. It’s as though my eyes are eating.
But, my bite itself, is incorrect. The foods have not communicated with each other. There’s no symphony, no balance. The ratio of yogurt compared to fruit, oats, and nuts in my bite is very off. I prefer the yogurt taste to be muddled.
Yet, as I sit there debating whether to mush my bowl…..I think to myself….which would I rather feed? The eyes, with aesthetic pleasure? Or the internal processing system?
I mush the bowl and divert my eyes.
I love your way of reflecting through simple acts of life... trivial things...
me too :)
